Field Services Recovery Ltd is a proud family-run recovery business, built on hard work, dedication, and a passion for helping people. Established in 1982, the company is led by Richard Caunt, Paula Caunt, Jonathan Caunt and Becky Caunt, continuing a family legacy that has been providing professional vehicle recovery and roadside assistance for over 40 years.
From humble beginnings with a single restored recovery truck, Field Services has grown into one of the South West’s trusted names in vehicle recovery. Today, we operate a strong fleet of fully equipped recovery vehicles, capable of handling everything from roadside breakdowns to specialist vehicle recovery across the region.
As a family business, our values remain at the heart of everything we do — reliability, professionalism, and genuine care for our customers. We are continuously investing in our fleet, team, and facilities, while expanding into new locations across the South West to ensure we can reach and assist our customers faster than ever before.
Our expertise and dependable service also allow us to proudly support vital organisations across the region, including the South Western Ambulance Service, alongside many other businesses and essential services throughout the South West.
Field Services Recovery Ltd was founded in 1982 by Richard “Ricky” Caunt, whose determination and hands-on approach laid the foundations for the business we know today.
While working full-time as a fitter for one of Plymouth’s largest haulage companies, HT Gardner, Ricky purchased and lovingly restored his very first recovery truck. Initially, the vehicle was stored and maintained at HTG’s premises in exchange for assisting with the recovery of their own fleet vehicles.
As demand for his services grew, Ricky added a second recovery truck, and before long, the business had expanded enough for him to dedicate himself to recovery work full-time — and Field Services was born.
Over the years, the company has continued to grow from strength to strength. In 2001, Ricky’s younger son Jon joined the business, bringing a new generation into the company and helping to drive further expansion, innovation, and growth.
In 2026, Field Services is proudly entering its third generation of family leadership, with Jon and Becky's eldest , Jessica Caunt, recently joining the company. Her arrival marks an exciting new chapter in the business’s history, continuing the Caunt family’s long-standing commitment to hard work, customer service, and the future growth of Field Services across the South West.
Today, three generations of the Caunt family are helping shape the future of Field Services, building on decades of experience and growing the company into a respected name known for outstanding customer service, reliability, and specialist recovery expertise throughout Plymouth and the wider South West.
We are proud to work alongside some of the region’s most recognised organisations, including Volvo Trucks, MAN Truck & Bus UK, and Plymouth City Council, as well as major local transport operators, while continuing to grow our network and services to better support communities and businesses across the South West.
